The leaves are nearly done changing and the temperature is dropping. Winter is upon us and the Inns of the Ohio Bed and Breakfast Association are ready! Specials and activities abound to make those Holiday getaways bright.  Here are just a few examples:

The Colonel Taylor Inn at 633 Upland Road in Cambridge begins the season with their annual Victorian Christmas Open House Tea & Tour, on the first Sunday in December. From 1:00 – 4:00 pm, join the Inn’s Victorian-costumed guides to learn the history of the historic Taylor mansion, enjoy the tree and all the decorations, and don’t miss the stockings, hung by the chimney with care.  Santa will be there, the elegantly decorated foyer, dining room and parlors beckon, and all proceeds from tickets ($10 for adults, $5 for children) benefit the Haven of Hope shelter. The Colonel Taylor also offers a two-night stay special for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – call them at 740-432-7802 for details and prices.

The Victorian Tudor Inn, on Main street in Bellevue, partners with Northern Ohio Wineries and Northcoast Grapevine Tours to provide half or full day tours of selected local wineries.  It’s “first come” for four couples to experience New Year’s in the historic Bed and Breakfast, with a two-night stay in a luxurious suite, a dozen roses, an arrangement of locally-made chocolates, a bottle of local wine, a half-hour, in-room aromatherapy massage, “alone time” in the Hot Tub room, and many more goodies.  Call the Victorian Tudor at 419-483-1949 for details and rates.

Meanwhile, don’t miss the Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns, as Inns, Lodges and Bed & Breakfasts across Holmes County evoke the spirit of the 1940’s with A Very Vintage Christmas – the fourth annual Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns.  A dozen hostelries will turn into bake shops, according to Loretta Coblentz, a participating innkeeper, with each location producing 1,200 wrapped cookies for guests on the self-guided tour. The tour is from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, December 4 and 5. Tickets include admission to 12 inns and benefit Hospice of Holmes County and the Love Center Food Pantry.

OBBA also offers gift certificates so you can share the joys and pleasures with others.  OBBA Gift Certificates are the easiest way to bundle up a day of fun or a night of romance in an envelope to present for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or any other gift-giving occasion.  From fishing to horseback riding,  to bird-watching to hiking, to boating, to just being, still and quiet, and enjoying the smell of pine needles on a crisp fall evening, if you or someone you know loves to do it, one of OBBA’s member inns offers it, and better still, OBBA Gift Certificates are good any OBBA member inn.

It’s easy, too.  Just go to and click on “Buy a Gift Certificate Online!” on the front page to order a gift certificate by mail, phone, or on-line. OBBA will even deliver it for you.
